No data savings on OSX #7

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install datacompressionproxy on fresh install of chrome stable
2. Load random websites (HTTP, not HTTPS)
3. Navigate to chrome://net-internals/#bandwidth

I expected some data savings, however chrome://net-internals/#bandwidth did not
reveal any data savings at all. I tried several websites, restarted chrome,
restarted computer, and reinstalled plugin.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Chrome Stable 34.0.1847.116
Mac OSX 10.9.2

I verified all proxy settings, and HTTP response header reveals data is being
ran through 1.1 chrome compression proxy. I also tried using my friend's wifi
who has a different ISP with no luck

Google constantly changes Chrome source code, it's possible they broke
something. To check if there are actually no data savings, do the test: fully
reload (ctrl-F5) the same page twice with DCP enabled and disabled, then
compare loading times and total sizes.
