This is how my Conky looks after fixing it on Linux Mint Xfce (https://github.com/brndnmtthws/conky/pull/777):

After changing all "true" to "yes", Conky looks like this:

It works fine with use_xft = true.

Your conky config is literally a Lua script.

$ lua
Lua 5.3.5  Copyright (C) 1994-2018 Lua.org, PUC-Rio
> true == true
true
> true == "yes"
false
>
CTimmerman commented 5 years ago

true == "yes" false

So that's why "no" instead of "false" did work. Old configs on the web are confusing.
