At present the --cases option (and config file setting) implicitly uses the project-specified submitter ID (e.g. TCGA-EE-A3J8) instead of the UUID. This is because most scientific users of the data currently exposed by GDC (TCGA and TARGET) interact with that data via their respective TCGA and TARGET ids. Nevertheless, access by UUIDs should also be supported.
