1) the version stamp used to specify which sample reports to generate does not always work with just a YYYY_MM_DD stamp, but it should work with either a pure datestamp or a date+time stamp.
2) The docstring should state this: calling it a versionStamp, then saying it can be YYYY_MM_DD[__HH_MM_SS]
