Restore branch protection for main #235

The auto version bump enforced in the github actions needs to be configured to play nicely with branch protection rules: otherwise the auto bump will NOT be able to merge the version-bump changes.

The branch protection rule is turned off for now to not mess with the version bump, so everyone who wants to merge changes to the main, please submit a PR.
