First added as a PR to pooled_cell_painting_profiling_recipe but transferred here.

@gwaygenomics, can you take a particularly close look at process_cells: merge_columns section? I got a little lost trying to explain exactly what the columns are/how to find the names.

Thanks for the style comments. Outstanding problems:

Switching to the bulleting for items with two levels creates a problem if the lowest level is a list of items because it is automatically formatting the - item with a bullet. e.g. process-cells: merge_columns: linking_columns Do you know a formatting trick to get around this?
Can you write the explanation for process-cells: merge_columns: metadata_linking_columns? I'm having a hard time putting it to words.
