Thanks for the comment. As far as using nicknames, it's difficult because the
program
simply reports the logs as they are written. In Pidgin, the protocol ID is used
as
the name of the folder, and the nickname is used within the log itself.
Consider a situation in which you message someone, and they do not respond. In
this
case, we have the protocol ID in the log, but not the nickname. Now we cannot
associate this "conversation" with others between you two.
The way it is currently designed, we simply take the folder name of the log as
the
buddy. This happens to be the protocol ID, but it is steadfast and always known.
Not to say it can't be done - just offering why I chose to design it the way I
did.
My solution is far from perfect.. believe me.
