Status banners #23

Updated status banners and home page. Included all small UI changes and placeholders for new buttons and toggle switches. Currently performing unit testing for the different stages error can happen.

In general, the scope of a pull request should be limited to a single feature. It looks like there's both trivial UI updates and serious component development. No need to break this one down further, but in the future try to keep PR contents logically related

@broarr I didn't exactly use a function for the status updates, but it looks pretty clean. Is this way fine?
