I have EyeTV (3.3, build 5851) and things work fine for me.
Do you have EyeTV running before you start Front Row?

Tried both ways with EyeTV running first and without.
When it's running first, everything works fine.
When I click on the EyeTV in FrontRow without EyeTV running in the first the
problem seems to be that the
Remote loses the control for FrontRow and I seem to control the EyeTV App
running in the background
(switching programs and alter volume work and I hear the sound of the tv show
running) but I have the
FrontRow still on top of the screen without the ability to control it via
Remote.... weird. Any thoughts on that?
Tried with and without Candelair driver for Remote - no effect on that.

EyeTV should be running before starting/entering Front Row. Otherwise, your
performance will suffer.
I recommend leaving EyeTV running at all times.

Thank you so far!
Is there a possibility to open EyeTV on logon without showing the
tv-program-window?

I think so. Check the preferences.
