Man page section #3

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. man page is named detex.1l whereas not many systems have 1L section, but
rather 1 or ... At least that is the case with OS X.

It would be good if there was a generic way to have the man page number, or at
least have it as detex.1.

Thank you

Santiago,

Are you still up to maintain OpenDetex? I am from the TeXLive group and we have a series of 12 patches that have been fixed in the original Detex, but are not merged in your code....

No, I don't maintain the project at all. I had exported from Google Code, as I see others have done too. I can transfer this repo to you, if you want.

btw, who were and are the official maintainers?

Thanks for getting back to me! We should wait a bit, one of the maintainers of a repository (Piotr) says he wants to continue to work on it.

The original developer was Daniel Trinkle, back in the 1980's, but he has abandoned it, the others I could list were:

Piotr Kubowicz: https://code.google.com/archive/p/opendetex/ Eric Miotto: https://github.com/edymtt/opendetex Santiago Castro: https://github.com/bryant1410/opendetex

and we (at TeXLive) have made a number of improvements that have never been fed back into the original project, so I am looking into merging everything now and have only one project moving forward.

I'll be back in touch ...
