Improve warning message on reduced resolution polygons #679

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Currently, the Warning message is (truncated)-

"Message
WARNING: The polygon created in this step has reduced spatial resolution when
used in analysis due to s"

Suggest

"WARNING: The polygon displayed has reduced resolution to enable subsequent
analyses."

I noted the warning with the Regent Honeyeater when I would not have expected
it. Can you check the thresholds?

It may be a good idea to display the original and reduced resolution
(#vertices)?

Pushed threshold to 200k.

The warning message is still incorrect (dev and prod) and still truncated. For
the record, I used "Black-chinned Honeyeater" that triggered the Warning
message.

I also think that reporting the degree of degradation may be very wise.
Otherwise, people using the area for analyses won't get an idea on the
significance of the reduced resolution of the boundaries. Either "from xxx
vertices to yyy vertices" or "by zz%)?

Message updated on prod so no longer truncated.

Threshold increased.

Still need to include degree of degradation in the message.
