I am a little confused as to lack of options that I can use for a backup destination. I have only six options: Evernote, an FTP client, Google Drive, GMail, PayPal(?), and Wuala. No Dropbox, SpiderOak, local folder(useful for Bittorrent Sync), etc. Can this backup option be expanded?

Yes it can. I'll put it into the next release! Right now it only looks for mail clients.
