Add option to make variant "one card each"

I think it would be cool to have the option to make "critical" a variant that adds a different color. For instance I find critical rainbow to be very fun and challenging. With this change, MULTICOLOR and ORANGE would be basically the same variant, but one critical.

I was thinking to add a simple checkbox (disabled for SEQUENCE and CLASSIC) . What do you think? What to dump between multicolor and orange, if it's accepted?

Hey @Flastica! Really nice proposal!

I've been thinking about whether to drop the multicolor option and I am still hesitating. The reason why we added (and named accordingly) the Multicolor variant is because it matches the physical game, and the extension in the box.

Then for you proposal, I'm hesitating with 2 options

• The one you suggested
• A new "mode" called maybe "Rainbow Critical" (Classic, Multicolor, Rainbow, Orange, Sequence, Rainbow Critical) What do you think?

I'm also thinking of adding a similar mode to the Rainbow one with numbers: a 6th color where all the cards are touched by number hints. Have you ever tried it with Hanabi Live (Pink variant) ? It's very fun.

yeah I imagined that was the reason. I don't like so much having both multicolor and rainbow since I always expect both to be touched by all colors (due to the icon being... multicolor xD) but no problem whatsoever in keeping both.

Regarding adding a new mode "rainbow critical", I think it depends on the goals on the long run:

• If the added variants will be only of ONE color (or something different, like sequence), then a "critical" flag would reduce the amount of variant buttons (and back-end code too)
• if at some point a new variant will have more than one new suit, then it could be tricky to use a single flag.

Pink variant is lovely, and hard! I haven't played with it so much but I definitely agree with adding it as well.
