Using the replication agent configs, how do we specify trans_password?

If I specify "trans_password": "admin", the passwords ends up being filled in blank in the AEM nodes.

Is there any way I can enter the password (either plaintext or with the {Des} prefix)?

Using AEM 6.2 & AEM 6.3 btw
