SIP Notify / Support for MWI (Voicemail) #94

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Voicemail message is left in ITP Voicemail Account
2. SIP Notify Message is sent to registered SIP clients (Siphon)
3. Siphon does not provide user with notification of new unheard voicemail
msgs

Requested Results: Siphon indicates voicemail message waiting via message
count on application icon (on springboard) & on main application screen.
Currently no notification is presented as Siphon does not support MWI at
this time.

Currently using Siphon 2.0.0-2 & iPhone 3G OS 2.2?

This would be a great addtional to an amazing app!!!

Yes, it would be a great additional, but do you imagine the number of SIP
provider,
if all of these use different protocols ?

Could you give me which provider do you use ?

Hi Samuel

I'm no expert on MWI so didn't realize that there would be so many different
messages that could potential be sent.

My ITP is Voxalot (http://www.voxalot.com). I use Counterpath's eyeBeam Pro
and a
few Sipura devices and they works great with the SIP Notify MWI message sent to
it
by Voxalot.

I do know that Voxalot's voicemail provider is Chameleon Mail (not sure if
that's
how its spelt) and I believe their backend (Voxalot's) is Asterisk.

Perhaps Siphon can support the mostly widely deployed voicemail systems.

Hope this help.

Again great app!!!

Richard

Hi Samuel

I sent a note the the operators of Voxalot asking for more details on the Sip
Notify/MWI Message content & format. See http://forum.voxalot.com/voxalot-
support/3660-sip-notify-mwi-format-content.html.

Hopefully there response will be useful to you.

Hi Samuel the initial feedback I got was that Voxalot is using SIP Notify
Messaging
for MWI per the Internet Networking Taskforce RFC 3842.

It can be found here: http://www.apps.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3842.html

I was also told:

When a message arrives Voxalot sends a sip notify message with body as follows:
Messages-Waiting: yes
Message-Account: sip:*500@voxalot.com
Voice-Message: 1/0

The SIP phone will reply with the usual "SIP/2.0 200 OK".

You can monitor the question and the answers directly at:
