The line number doesn't seem to be valid, so I can't work out exactly what is 
causing this.  I have surrounded the function with a catch for the 
NullPointerException.  It will print a stack trace.  It is probably some race 
condition in initialization.  Let me know if the exception happens and mark it 
critical if it happens more than once in a run.
