Is there anyone working on a version that might compile under the ESP Arduino
IDE?

Ah, my bad. in summary, an 80mhz cpu, 512K flash, with integrated wifi stack,
loads I/O, an ADC, a newly released arduino IDE and the best bit is that each
board only cost £2! An arduino on steroids, with wifi!

hmmm unfortunately there are some hw dependencies for u8glib. At the moment
only original Arduino boards and 100% compatible boards are supported. You may
check the arm variant of u8glib, which includes porting instructions to any
other controller.

I'd certainly like to use u8glib with the ESP8266 - the font options are so
much nicer than Adafruit's library, and it's faster.
