editing, updating, and report needs

I'm raising this issue so that the development team can begin collecting information from the library staff regarding features, improvements, and so on regarding the development of dashboard, editor, and features similar to the admin tabs on the current website (when you click on your logged in name in the upper right of the web page).

The Editing Buda document lays out some broad considerations for editing, updating and reporting.

We will be retiring the current standalone DLMS Editor snd moving to a completely browser-based editor which should make deploying updates and other maintenance activities much more productive for all of us.

As you have requests for improvements over the current DLMS Editor or new features including reports and batch updating like reassigning topics, persons and places, please add a reply to this issue.

Dear Chris, Librarians have a meeting to gather suggestions for New BUDA cataloging and outlining platform.

Following are the suggestion from Librarians:

1. Please add following in Print Type: lithograph = rdo par/ mimeograph = snum par/ copper printing plates = zangs par/

2. Need another field as Script: and move dbu can and dbu med to this field from Print Type. List will be:
   dbu can dbu med sog yig (Other languages in BUDA, Please ask Charles)

3. Encoding field: Is it possible to make Encodings selectable? The other thing is sometimes the texts have more than one language. bilingual, trilingual and quadrilingual. For these, need able to select more than one. Therefore, making multiple selectable is an issue, then keep same. In Tibetan In English In Chinese In Mongolian In Sanskrit In Pali

4. Archive Information: Right now, there is only two choice to select during scan request. OpenAccess or copyright. Please make them choose/selectable during the cataloging or generating scan request in new BUDA platform. It will save the librarian's time. We have to check out work record to change them into restrictedSealed, temporarilyRestricted, restrictedByQuality, restrictedByTbrc, restrictedInChina.

5. Feature to add image Group Number (volumes) for the works which have already image group number.

6. Please add tool ExtendedWylie to Tibetan Unicode.

7. All the notes and any entries need to be searchable. Also, search by Publisher Name as well as Series Name.

8. The display on the web page of the long outlines is moving to top.

9. We would like to know the feature of creating an outline on the browser-based cataloging/outlining.

10. All the Work and Pubinfo fields already appear on the browser-based cataloging system will save time for the cataloger. The cataloger can fill up the resources from the text.

5. Feature to add image Group Number (volumes) for the works which have already image group number. A: We have many Journals which have already scan request, images are already synced. But later published need scan request (ImageGroupNumber). For example, W1PD159529, W21016, W20821 has more journals than listed here. If there is a feature to add more scan request would be helpful.

6. The display on the web page of the long outlines is moving to top. A: Actually when clicked on details of outlines which have long nodes. it flips to the beginning of the web page. I tested an outline of W1PD96185 some nodes are moving and some are not. I can't say exactly. Karma

Are there Tools such as Admin Tools on the new website? I often use Admin Tools  “Find & Replace” and "change the Old Creator RID to the New Creator RID" and it is very useful and saves lots of time. But still, if possible to add a few more keys.  https://www.tbrc.org/?locale=en&&both=yes#!membership

In the Admin menu, The Admin Tools have features to change the old Creator RID to the New Creator RID. This only works for the Creator. When the Person Record is used "IsAboutPerson and there are in "Lineage Transmission Line" it is not changing to new Creator RID. Please add this feature as well.

Also, in the Admin, "Find & Replace" the Tibetan or extended Wylie and Devanagari words are finding and able to replace. But not the Chinese character. Searching and Replacing a single language, as well as bilinguals, will be also useful. "kind support of 周采璇" 

Admin Tools  “Find & Replace” is not working with outline titles and notes. If, typo needs to be fixed "Find & Replace" would be very handy.

Hi @eroux, Ticket #1 is from librarians on Jan. 2019 to add features in the Web-based cataloging system BDRC Editor. Now on BDRC editor, there are more fields, and some need to add especially on the Print type.

Copyright is a quite complex issue... Ideally we should make a distinction in the copyright of:

• the work (the original text)
• the instance (a particular edition of the text)
• the scans (some people claim copyright on them because they own the physical manuscript or because they feel they deserve it for taking the pictures)

but this would make a system that's a bit too complex, so what I propose is:

• having a mandatory copyright field on the instance, with the following possible values:
  • verified copyright (the text is a modern text)
  • copyright claimed (the original text is in the public domain but there's a copyright notice in the edition)
  • no copyright claimed (modern edition, the original text is in the public domain, there's no copyright claim)
  • public domain (old edition)
• having an optional copyright field in the image instance, which would be a "copyright notice" free text field

I agree with you that it is much too complex to assign copyright statuses for work, instance, and images, and that we shouldn't do it.

I like the four options you propose for a mandatory copyright field on instances/versions. As far as copyright goes this seems comprehensive to me. Perhaps someone can think of an additional setting but I cannot.

There are some books verified copyright (the text is a modern text) but the author or publisher gave permission to post open access on the BDRC website. https://library.bdrc.io/show/bdr:MW2KG232481?tabs=bdr:W2KG232481
