This is caused by changes in Update 8 to how the player's character and handheld equipment is rendered. I won't be able to fix it for a while because it requires totally rewriting how the suit's in-world appearance is defined.
To avoid the issue, use the standard FOV or use the equipment FOV offset base game setting to reduce the visual separation some.
