I'm just wondering what this cookbook would do.

Ok - final design for the homepage.

How is that useful if the user has no idea what buddycloud is and how it works?
I usually read about what the project is (that also includes a brief description of how it works) and then go to a "Get Started" page.
npm i .
.open http://localhost:3000
will only work for those awful fruity laptopsnpm start
to check for a node_modules directory (and if not run npm i .
) to take out a step tooAs Newbie to buddycloud I was looking for a quick way to try out and make some experience with buddycloud. I was looking for "How can I post something? How can I read stuff other folks posted? How do clients look like?" To me it was very suprising to see the "Getting Started" being a Tutorial to hack an application. Is it really intentional to start buddycloud by hacking an application? Shouldn't I somehow join/use/test buddycloud as an enduser first?
@t3dev Thanks so much for this feedback. What do you think of the following proposal:
http://buddycloud.com/get-started
New page (based on isotope) "Buddycloud showcase"
Would this help you @t3dev ?
@imaginator actually for me "getting started" is something like get up some buddycloud instance( xxxx.buddycloud.com, buddycloud.example.com or even on demo.buddycloud.com). I'd consider using the webclient to be the start (of the end user experience).
Only after that I like to start on using/hacking the API. But maybe I do really misunderstand the whole concept behind buddycloud.
On first registration on buddycloud.com I decided to go for the "host yourself option"... which still is not fully operational. I guess the current "Getting Started" assumes one has already some working buddycloud instance, which might not be the case (at least for me).
We need to show how quick and easy it is.
This is my proposal
I'd love feedback.
