Site theme/Blog posts #1

I don't know if we're going to theme the site based off the new theme at http://buffalolab.tumblr.com/ or theme the blog off the new site. I'm indifferent to which style we go with but either way the blog has definitely moved to tumblr just so we don't have to manage wordpress anymore but still have managed logins so we might want to look into doing an import. Some cursory googling turned this up http://www.carlj.us/post/38727118850/import-a-wordpress-blog-into-tumblr

I wasn't aware anyone had setup the tumblr and was adding content to it.. can tumblr have static pages? can we setup a vanity domain? blog.buffalolab.org ?

Just caught this thread by chance, can I be of any assistance? Not sure at all where everyone is in terms of where the project is, but gathered you all are referencing the Buffalo Lab Reface.

You can have static pages and you can setup a vanity domain. I used to have blog.shawnbiddle.com. That said, I think it would be better if the "main" buffalolab.org was statically generated via jekyll and then blog.buffalolab.org was a subdomain record to tumblr which is what I did with my shitty site.

@shawncplus can you add me to the tumblr blog? my tumblr username is x4via

I am all good with having the static pages be done with jekyll. I am not picky about the theme, I just quickly googled for a jekyll theme. I like what's on tumblr better, so we can copy that.

As far as the old blog posts, if one of those importers works that would be great. Otherwise, we can just have a list of archived posts on the static website.

Thanks @shawncplus for adding me to the tumblr.

I setup the CNAME record for blog.buffalolab.org to point to tumblr. I don't seem to have permission to edit the custom domain option for buffalolab though.

We are all set, I set the subdomain http://blog.buffalolab.org/ I've promoted you to group admin so maybe you can update the settings now? @orloc I sent you an invite as well

just an update, I imported the blog posts as drafts to tumblr. will start going through and cleaning them up and publishing them.
