I feel like this is out of the scope for the project and should be handles by either the DM, or the user, either by installing the file into the correct location (sudo install -Dm644 misc/kiwmi.desktop /usr/share/xsessions/kiwmi.desktop) or by packaging kiwmi for their package manager.
