Kiwix Application crashes consistently on android tablet #SeleniumBugBash #1

  1. Change language to Telugu.
  2. Click on open file option, which is first option in the settings (in telugu 'dastranni terugu…')
  3. Select a file.
  4. Wait for 3 seconds. Issue: Application crashes 7 out of 10 times in these steps. Submitted by Ashok Gadamsetty (agadamsetty@salesforce.com)

I have already reported the issue and send the logs to your system.

Hi @ashokgadamsetty, thanks for reporting that! Haven't got the crash in the developer console yet, I guess it'll take a bit. So far I (unfortunately) couldn't reproduce the crash, but maybe it's something version specific. I'll look out for the report in the console.

I have send the crash logs 3 times to your application, when it asked the report problem, I have mentioned my name.

Please go over the crash logs you received in afternoon.

Can you confirm that this still crash with this dev. version of Kiwix for Android? http://download.kiwix.org/nightly/bin/2014-09-06/kiwix-20140906_cf3b6c40-android.apk

What is your model of tabel and your version of Android?

I am attending some sessions and could not test this so far.

If any of your company persons who are at conference, can get this version on to their androids, I can go and test after 1/2 hour.

Please help with the setup and point me to some one who are at the conference.

Appreciate the quick turn around.

I checked with your team who are present at conference, they are busy with some other stuff and can not provide the env.

So please ask your test team verify the fix on latest android tablet.

I have tried many times the 4 steps given in the first messages with Kiwix for Android 1.9 and the current dev version (future 2.0). With none of them I was able to reproduce the problem.

It would be really helpful to get that log of the crash (Looks like using this app is the most easier solution for you https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xtralogic.android.logcollector)

@julianharty Any thoughts about this ticket? Without a clear repro-case I'm stuck.

We have released yesterday a new version of Kiwix for Android (v1.91) in the Google play store which fixes many crash scenario. Could you please confirm that this fix the issue you have reported here?
