Hi @objectiveSee,
I think you may need to install cocoapods itself first. Can you try running brew install cocoapods
and then retry the above command.
There are some other suggestions on how to resolve this described on https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27768420/gem-installation-error-you-have-to-install-development-tools-first in case brew install cocoapods
does not work.
Do let us know how you get on.
Thanks for the response. I already had Cocoapods installed, but I'm thinking about uninstalling it and trying again. Other than that maybe something wrong with Ruby. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I will try to post back my findings.
Hey @objectiveSee,
Just wondering if you have had any luck with this? Are you still having the same issue? I'm going to close this for now as we haven't heard back from you but I'm happy to reopen if necessary.
@johnkiely1 Still no luck getting it to work. I tried re-install cocoapods but that didn't fix it. Can you open this back up as nobody has offered any additional help? Here's the error log:

The issue is not with installing cocopods. I just can't get bugsnag
to install due to some Makefile errors perhaps:

hi @objectiveSee - there are various threads (e.g. over at apple) that suggest errors like these are most likely a version dependency issue related to macOS/Ruby/xcode. What versions of these do you have installed?
It might also be worth trying to reinstall the command line tools with xcode-select --install
.
Hey @objectiveSee, just checking in to see if you've had a chance to see Luke's message above? Have you made any progress with this?
No progress @johnkiely1. The next thing that I will try is running everything inside Rosetta. This will test whether the issue is M1 Apple Silicone.
hi @objectiveSee - it's been a little while since we heard anything on this thread, so I'm going to close this issue for now. Let us know if you're still having trouble and we can continue to investigate 👍
I am cloning a project on a new Mac Mini and running into issues installing this plugin. Running
pod install

gem install cocoapods-bugsnag
