I misunderstood the capability of the 5VOUT pin. I did not think it could be used as a power supply. On further review it can supply 50ma. Unless anyone disagrees, I will eliminate the second IRM-5-10 as suggested, tie all of the 5VOUT pins together on each TMC2660 and use these outputs as a common supply for all +5VM needs.
Pin 13, aka V5OUT
does not appear to be connected to the +5Vm
net in the schematic. Also, if you look at the layout it's only connected to the bypass capacitor C7
.
BTW, there's a useful feature in PCB you may not know about. If you select a pin or segment of a trace you can hit CTRL-F
and it will highlight all the connected traces and pins in the schematic. Hit SHIFT-F
to clear this selection.
I changed the title of this issue because we definitely do not want to do what it originally said. That would completely mess up our isolation.
No longer desired.
a. We could avoid the second IRM-10-5 by using the 5v supply on the TMC2660. These could all just be ganged together. Saves ~$7.50.
