Very strange behaviour with AutoRouting #1570

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open my sample Project
2. view the simple layout, which is an plan to build an "Shift Out" - (or Port
Multiplyer) Shield. Idea from http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ShiftOut
3. go to "Leiterplatte" view and execute the autorouting
4. go back to the "Steckplatine" view and see al the unwanted wires.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

There are strange, unwanted wires all over the layout.

What version of Fritzing are you using? On what operating system?
The current version of fritzing (0.6.2 vom 11.7.2011)

Please provide any additional information below.

Am I doing something wrong, or what is the problem that all such wires are
created?
I tried even to move my connectors around, but had no luck. autorouting does
simply not work.

Hi, those wires are so-called jumper wires or "Drahtbrücken" which the
autorouter puts in if it fails to route the sketch with normal traces. I guess
it could do a better job by using vias instead before putting in jumpers, but
you could also help it a little bit by laying out your parts more carefully:
I'm not sure what you're after, for example what the unconnected rows of
headers are meant for. If you remove those or place them somewhere else, it
should autoroute okay. The goal is, before autorouting, to reduce the number of
ratsnest lines (the colorful ones) that are crossing each other.
See attached an alternative layout of your file with the headers removed and
the shift register moved to the center of the Arduino Mega (so that you'd get
an Arduino shield).
