Even if Peerblock is set to update every 2 days (or more) it still auto updates
every
time the PC is re-started.

Hmm, I can't reproduce the exactly - disabling both "Check PeerBlock" and "Check
Lists" but enabling "Update at Startup" doesn't cause PeerBlock to show the
update-window to show at all. However, clicking the "Check Updates" button I
*do*
see Update Window popping up for a fraction of a second before disappearing
again.

Is that a similar symptom to what you're seeing?

As far as the "Even if Peerblock is set to update every 2 days (or more) it
still
auto updates every time the PC is re-started." comment goes, is it safe to
assume
you're using the 1.0 Stable Release? Assuming so, then yes, there was a bug in
that
release such that PeerBlock often wouldn't block until it ran through the
list-updating code first - so we simply hardcoded the "Update at Startup"
option to
True. More details on this can be found in Issue #22. It has since been fixed
in
our Beta Release train.

If anyone can confirm the symptoms of the originally reported issue, that would
be
appreciated! Otherwise we'll have to simply fix the one issue we can see, and
count
that as resolving this entire issue.

>> Is that a similar symptom to what you're seeing?
Possibly, but not really, even if all 3 update box's are "un-checked" the update
splash screen still appears for 4 seconds (I have 4 seconds set, to
automatically
close the update window) I have tried other timings but with the same result.

Even if the PC is re-started say 2 or 3 times one after the other.
Regardless of what update setting is chosen, PeerBlock will still go through the
update sequence each time the PC is re-started, even if set to only update
every 2 days.
Basically, I can't get it to stop wanting to update.

>> is it safe to assume you're using the 1.0 Stable Release?
Yes, although I have also tried the Beta version, and also downloaded and
installed a
fresh copy of v1.0, but with the same result.

Obviously it's not a major issue, it's just annoying having to keep waiting for
the
update to complete each time the PC is re-started.
I also have the same instance on 3 computers, so it's not just a one-off.

Thanks for your time, not too mention a very good program.

Update:

With all 3 update settings unchecked, PeerBlock is now no longer attempting to
update, which is as it should be.
Although the update every 2 days is still being ignored and attempting to
update each
time the PC is started or restarted.
(But I can live with that, but hopefully a fix will be forthcoming at a later
date)

Thanks again.

Our most recent Beta Release has some additional rework done around this code.
Could
those of you hitting this bug please try to repro it with the latest Beta
Release,
and post your test results and peerblock.log files so that we can look into it
further?

I have now installed the "latest Beta Release" and the updating function is now
working as it should.

That is, With PeerBlock not set to check for updates on startup, it is no longer
checking for updates on startup, (which is correct and as it should be)

Prior to this release, PeerBlock would auto update even when the startup update
was
not selected.

Thank you.

Marking this bug as fixed, in the absence of any comments to the contrary.
Thanks
for getting back to us about it, "oldfogy"!
