UI clean-up II - Remove obsolete buttons #140

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

Behold! One of my widely feared feature request sketches!

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/6565/zwischenablage1.png

Explanations:
1. Obsolete
2. Contradiction. If it auto-updates at startup, I don't need to set it to
update every 2nd day.
3. Move this button up and name it "Settings II - revenge of the nerd" or
something along these lines :)
4. Remove button, as we got it all tabbed out.

What is the expected output?
A clean, intuitive UI.

#2-Not a contradiction-Leave Alone-I dont start my computer daily( it remains
up
without a reboot for weeks), so I would still want to get updated
automatically,
preferably on a daily basis. If I waited for a startup. then I would not get
updated
for weeks. In fact, why not make an "on boot OR daily update" the standard.
To take it a step up, design a real time update, similar to the Norton Internet
Security 2010 pulse update feature, that updates whenever an update becomes
available, real time, unscheduled.

Good point, didn't have that in mind.

Yep, also we're only "forcing" update-at-startup right now due to a bug -
Isssue #22.

The "real time update" feature would interesting, depending on the server-side
ramifications of that. Added Issue #141 to track that idea.

Other than that, I really don't think we want to remove this feature at this
point,
so I'm marking this Won't Fix.
