I followed most of these instructions with ArchLinux about a week ago (kernel 4.11) on an MDG Flex, and found they were helpful for getting sound, wifi and battery working.

Battery: /sys/class/power_supply/axp288_charger and /sys/class/power_supply/axp288_fuel_guage which Gnome is smart enough to pick up on

which Gnome is smart enough to pick up onSo you can remove those sections, or at least mention that they are unnecessary for people running a new enough kernel. Hooray!
