Chrome extension does not seem to save generated new pwd in vault? #330

I wanted to change my repeatedly re-used passwords into unique ones, generated by Buttercup. Then I ran into this; is this a real bug or do I use the wrong workflow?

  1. Go to a specific website and login into account by using existing bcup credentials
  2. Go to change password of account and use right mouse-click to have Buttercup generate a new password
  3. Click on 'Use this' and in the second field on 'Insert generated password' All fine, account pwd changed, as confirmed by the website.
  4. Check applicable vault (I only have one) and the same entry: nothing changed in the vault.
  5. Passwords (rightly so) cannot be copied and pasted to enable 'manual' entry of the new value into the vault. Result? Password reset :-( Google Chrome Version 80.0.3987.132 (Official Build) (64-bit); Buttercup extension 2.14.0, on Mac.

I have checked the workflow. As far as I can see the new password should be generated/edited or entered through the desktop application. After that it can be used to change the password on the specific webpage and the web-extension can use it to auto fill login fields. I close the issue.
