Soundflower (Skype) incompatible with SteelSeries Engine 3 #266

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Install Steel Series Engine 3 (SteelSeries Siberia Elite)
2. Install Skype (which I assume installs Soundflower)
3. Open SteelSeries Engine 3 - confirm audio throughput works
4. Open Skype confirm audio works
5. Turn off Skype
6. Open an audio-capable application Mumble
7. Mumble: confirm audio works through headset
8. Open Skype.
9. Launch and play music through iTunes

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected result: Skype works. Mumble works.
Actual result: Mumble recognizes the SteelSeries headset but no sound comes
through. Skype sometimes cannot recognize the Steel Series headset. Both Skype
and Mumble need to be redirected to the iMac's headphone jack.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Soundflower (whichever version is included with Skype)
Mumble: 1.2.6 (happened also with prior versions)
SteelSeries Engine 3 3.2.2
Mac OSX 10.9.3.
Skype 6.1.5

Please provide any additional information below.

This never was an issue before, yet there are many moving parts. Mac OSX had an
update (though this issue predates the latest), Skype had an update and the
SteelSeries Engine had an update.

Also, the issue happens if a specific sequence of events happen. For instance,
if you fresh install SteelSeries THEN Mumble, THEN Skype, confirm everything
works, then play iTunes, everything works fine. UNLESS you reboot the computer.
Then audio breaks for the SteelSeries and Mumble. Sometimes Skype is affected
from the start, sometimes it works then doesn't work.

This issue was also logged with Skype and SteelSeries.
