If the idea of this bug is to use favicons other than those provided by the site itself, that seems like a really bad idea. Favicons are something the site defines. If they suck, that's the site's problem. Also, as a web developer, I'd be really annoyed if a similar but different icon was showing due to an extension I had installed. It'd take me quite a while to figure out what the problem was.
