Interestingly a fix for this has the potential to also benefit linux. Firefox under linux has never had titlebar drawing but the effect with Tab Center is basically the same. However a general system for placing the window controls in the main toolbar and then hiding the titlebar could benefit both OS's as while the processes would be different, the desired result would be the same. It would just be a matter of designing it with a little bit of platform specific abstraction
Here's a couple images of the issue..
As #1060 (without reference to maximising) was closed in favour of this issue #527
I assume that this issue is no longer solely about maximised views.
… linux … a general system for placing the window controls in the main toolbar and then hiding the titlebar could benefit both OS's …
Optional, yes?
For me, the title bar (with a title) is essential.
…
The titlebar space is empty and essentially wasted. It would be very nice if the main toolbar (underneath) could be moved up into this space when the tab bar is not present.
Beware of losing the at-a-glance view of the title of a page. The screenshot above is a case where a title can be seen or guessed without a title bar.
In many cases, it's impossible to guess. Here, for example:
– at a glance (without moving the pointer), what's the title?
As per this Discourse thread…
