Crackles on recorded audio #210

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
2010 MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo 2.4, 4GB, SSD)
Behringer X32 digital mixing console (USB)
Qlab 3.0.5 for playing sound effects
Reaper 4.402 for recording

The X32 appears as a 32/32 CoreAudio device. 32 analog mic/line channels passed
out directly to 32 computer inputs. 4 aux inputs taken from first 4 computer
outputs. All 36 channels mixed live.

I want to record all 36 channels independently, so I tried to use Soundflower
to route the 4 channels from Qlab internally to 4 additional tracks in Reaper
AS WELL as sending them over USB to the mixer.

I made an Aggregate Device of the X32 and Soundflower 64ch (overall 96/96).

Aggregate Device selected for input in Reaper, recording 36 tracks (X32 1-32
plus Soundflower 1-4).

Aggregate Device selected for output in Qlab, cues set to play to device
outputs 1-4 *and* 33-36.

All sample rates set to 48000. Aggregate Device clock source set to X32 device.

Qlab audio over USB to aux inputs on mixer is clean when monitored on
headphones.

Recording tracks 1-32 (from the mixer) are clean when played back in Reaper.

Recording tracks 33-36 (from Qlab via Soundflower) are crackly.

Please advise... :)
