After requesting to borrow a book, a message appears at the top of the page which makes it difficult to search for anything else until it is closed. Perhaps either movie it, make it smaller, or make it easier to close (clicking anywhere on the message rather than on the "X", or even just disappearing if you click out of it like a modal window?). Also possibly consider making it so that it disappears after a certain period of time.
