A quick release skewer might help as a simple solution to adjust the string tension
Penta bought a cement bucket, rope-"strings" and a few other tidbits and got a hardwood fretboard built
Talked to Penta (inventor of teh beast^Wbassbucket) and he totally fixed me up with the concept. Check it out here: http://bucketbass.com/
Deep'n'cheap as fsck. Needs:
[ ] Bass string (LONG, fat, arco(bow)-compatible!)
[ ] A few meters two-by-four
[x] 1m-something of better quailty wood (Palisander, Ebenholz, Ahornholz, Birnbaum, Buchenholz, Wenge) as fingerboard
[x] Screw thread to adjust fingerboard
[x] nut (sattel) material to guide/hover the string
[ ] round wooden peg as tuning peg
[ ] hose clamp to adjust peg or something similar
[x] bucket string attachment plate
[x] We have a preliminary bucket. It is yellow, square and probably has its very own distinguished sound.
