Set up SLA to support the VO #2

Closed backeb closed 3 years ago

backeb commented 3 years ago

Set up a Service Level Agreement between Deltares and EGI.eu with INFN and INCD as providers to support the VO: https://operations-portal.egi.eu/vo/update/serial/841

For an overview of the data requirements see: https://confluence.egi.eu/display/CSCALE/Use+cases%2C+providers+and+teams

backeb commented 3 years ago

@enolfc what is the status of the SLA? I have created an issue #4 to start the process of allocating compute and data resources to the VO

enolfc commented 3 years ago

@backeb this is a bit delayed right now. Even without the SLA providers should be able to get things ready. @sebastian-luna-valero will be helping me to get things ready pretty soon.

mariojmdavid commented 3 years ago

I don't have access to https://operations-portal.egi.eu/vo/update/serial/841 supposing I should have access to it /DC=org/DC=terena/DC=tcs/C=PT/O=LIP Lab Instrumentacao Fis Exper Particulas-Assoc Invest Desenv/CN=Mario David david@lip.pt

Hi,

I will be helping out with the preparation of the SLA/OLAs for the Aquamonitor use case in C-SCALE.

Looking at the computational requirements gathered for in the shared doc here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hjyUsA2g7SYV_XUGiP6vCeIFu79WWrC6xHHWc9NcoQo/edit

Could you confirm what the final figures are, please?

Many thanks, Sebastian

backeb commented 3 years ago

Hi @sebastian-luna-valero

The requirements as listed in the proposal under the Aquamonitor use case are listed here: https://github.com/c-scale-community/use-case-aquamonitor/issues/4#issuecomment-842190352

According to @mariojmdavid these are different from what is listed in the VA (Virtual Access) section of the proposal. @gdonvito could you also please comment?

@mariojmdavid indicated that he would set up some resources from INCD: https://github.com/c-scale-community/use-case-aquamonitor/issues/4#issuecomment-842206415

I imagine that the requirements might change depending on how the deployment of the use cases evolves, so perhaps we can keep the SLA open as a working / evolving document?

From a use case perspective, at this stage we need access (ASAP) to some development VMs, so that we can start exploring what's possible in terms of porting Aquamonitor from Google Earth Engine (https://aqua-monitor.appspot.com/) to C-SCALE resources.

mariojmdavid commented 3 years ago

copy/paste here my comment from #4 hi all, I found it in the proposal, and the number of VCPUs is different from those values 4500 VCPU days is wrong in the proposal since it is per month -> 180 VCPUs for the remaining period of the project 450 TB month - 18 TB for the remaining period of the project we will setup the quotas accordingly (this comment was edited to verify the numbers, there is an error in the google sheets and proposal that state this per day instead of per month)

these values are valid for the remaining 25 month of the c-scale project starting on 1st June 2021 (well now in practice), and we can sign an SLA with these, RAM has been set to 2GB per core

@gdonvito could you provide @sebastian-luna-valero with the necessary information as well?

sebastian-luna-valero commented 3 years ago

Hi,

I have just sent the first draft of INCD's OLA to @mariojmdavid and @jorge-lip so we can move this forward.

I would be grateful if @gdonvito could confirm aquamonitor's system requirements in the shared google doc for the INFN's OLA.

Best regards, Sebastian

mariojmdavid commented 3 years ago

missing info sent by mail, we should be ready to sign the SLA

gdonvito commented 3 years ago

Dear all,

Yes, I can confirm for INFN the resources reported in the google doc.

We are going to configure the new VO on our resources. As soon as we are done, we will let you know.

Thank you Cheers, Giacinto

Many thanks @mariojmdavid @gdonvito for your inputs to prepare the OLAs for the aquamonitor.c-scale.eu VO.

I have now sent the draft SLA to @backeb for his perusal.

Best regards, Sebastian

backeb commented 3 years ago

@sebastian-luna-valero apologies for the delay, I have now reviewed the SLA. I have made some comments in the attached pdf for your correction / review. Kindly check with @enolfc regarding the wording I suggested for the customer description. EGI VO SLA aquamonitor.c-scale.eu DRAFT - reviewed by BB.docx.pdf Please share an updated version once ready.

sebastian-luna-valero commented 3 years ago

Thanks @backeb. I have updated the SLA draft with your feedback.

Best regards, Sebastian

backeb commented 3 years ago

Thanks @sebastian-luna-valero,

I have reviewed the SLA draft and made one final comment on the cover page regarding the Customer:

I suggest to change the Customer description to: Deltares/C-SCALE/aquamonitor.c-scale.eu

From my perspective we can consider the SLA final after this change is implemented.

Cheers Bjorn

mariojmdavid commented 3 years ago

@backeb on the SLA draft page 6 "Storage technology 2 : Ceph" the upper-script should "1" SWIFT, POSIX the same in the OLA of INCD (page 5), in this case the upper-script should be 2

as for the rest I agree with all and can sign the OLA

sebastian-luna-valero commented 3 years ago

Thanks for your feedback @mariojmdavid

I think the upper-scripts only provide potential examples of:

However, the real answer for the SLA/OLA is given in the main text. For the INCD example:

I think this is correct?

Sorry if I misunderstood your message.

On the other hand, there is no need to sign these documents. We will upload the final versions to https://documents.egi.eu/document/3750 and will schedule follow-up meetings to check status.

Best regards, Sebastian

mariojmdavid commented 3 years ago

from our part is ok to close the issue

sebastian-luna-valero commented 3 years ago

Thanks!

The SLA and OLAs are now available at: https://documents.egi.eu/document/3750

Best regards, Sebastian
