Dear @Jaapel , @sperna ,
We have enabled scrontab for Slurm on Spider. In terms of best practices on Spider it may be better to use scrontab as compared to the regular linux crontab. This is because crontab saves its settings on the UI machine in /var/spool and this is not robust against replacements of these virtual machines (i.e. these VM are intended to be hot swappable). On the other hand scrontab saves its setting in the SlurmDB which is a good central place. In case you are planning to change to use scrontab and/or need help with this then let me know.
