Register VO #1

To register a VO please follow instructions in c-scale-community/discussions#2 (comment)

Specifically: procedure to create VOs in EGI: PROC14

@sustr4 @enolfc @melanger please support @sandragaytan in following the process

We were asked to provide the following information, could you please advise?

  • name of VO (English alphabet) + short name of VO (usually 2-10 characters): hisea.c-scale.eu , hisea OUR ANSWER: hisea.c-scale.eu
  • who should be the VO managers: ? OUR ANSWER: ?

That would be you (or whoever will be approving membership here)

  • whether the VO is going to be used for EGI Check-in only, or for some other end services as well: I'd say check-in and cloud services, like the other c-scale VOs OUR ANSWER: ?

I think Check-in is ok, @sustr4: do we need anything else for the data part?

  • either the desired user life cycle, or at least which events should trigger a notification for VO managers (new registration to VO, registration changes state etc.): I'd say standard notifications to VO mangers are fine OUR ANSWER: Standard notifications to VO managers are fine
  • whether VO registrations should be approved manually (by VO managers) or automatically: ? OUR ANSWER: Manually approval
  • what fields should be in the VO registration form and which of them should be required (the bare minimum is required name + required email): ? OUR ANSWER: Name, email, organization

@sandragaytan Can you be more specific about the "cloud services"? For example, the aquamonitor VO only has EGI Check-in enabled, I suppose all other "services" are behind EGI Check-in, so it is sufficient.

Hi @melanger, this question came from the EGI Operations team, at this point it is unclear what EGI services will be used for C-SCALE. For this VO we need access to CloudFerro and GRNET cloud and maybe HPC resources.

I think perhaps this should be discussed in WP2 and WP3 - @enolfc, @sebastian-luna-valero and @sustr4

@backeb If the services (e.g. CloudFerro) are behind EGI Check-in, you just need to enable EGI Check-in on the VO and you get access to all services behind EGI Check-in. For the VO creation (from the point of view of Perun), "other services" would mean that Perun is pushing user data through different means than EGI Check-in, which is probably not desired.

Similarly GRnet openstack is behind check in thus we need to enable the VO as well For HPC it’s a bit more complex but we will sort it from Wednesday onwards when I’ll be back at work

VO enabled in GRNET. Some users have access already.

From CloudFerro side. Need to have a conversation with Enol about what to do. CloudFerro not fully integrated in EGI Federation. Need to set up a project in OpenStack and provide resources. How to do AAI on CloudFerro? @jkonarski @sebastian-luna-valero to talk to @enolfc about this @yan0s to support
