Add HiSea members to SRAM CO #10

Closed sebastian-luna-valero closed 2 years ago

Hi everyone,

We have created a CO in SRAM for HiSea.

More info:

I am going to add members to the CO but I wanted to confirm, should I just add the "Users" listed in https://confluence.egi.eu/display/CSCALE/Use+case%3A+HiSea or should I add everbody? (i.e. people at GRNET and CREODIAS as well?

Best regards, Sebastian

hi @sebastian-luna-valero : I am not fully aware of the potential of SRAM (so somone with more experience can comment) but based on the short intro video this is useful mainly for User organizations such as Deltares, not realy for providers. Any comment @sandragaytan @backeb ?

backeb commented 2 years ago

@lorincmeszaros as far as I understand SRAM is, or will be, used the providers to manage user authentication and authorisation, i.e. access to compute and data resources.

At the moment there are two systems being used for user authorisation and authentication:

  1. EGI Check-in (mainly used for cloud)
  2. SRAM (will be used for HPC/HTC resources)

Both systems are supposed to make the UX, in terms of accessing resources, more pleasant / less complicated.

@sebastian-luna-valero I would certainly add all the users listed in https://confluence.egi.eu/display/CSCALE/Use+case%3A+HiSea but I cannot comment on who from the provider side should be added. @kkoumantaros @jkonarski please comment.

A couple of points,

1) @sebastian-luna-valero , when you invite the users please inform them in advance that they will receive an email from sram or add a message in the invite. For first time users this may be nice. I have received your invite and registered in my role as a test user.

2) @sebastian-luna-valero the GRNET HPC service will need to be coupled with new CO. This can be done via the SRAM team. Please contact @venekamp

3) In addition, but GRNET (@kkoumantaros , @nikosT ) can comment on this, you will need to collect the IP addresses from the users for the machine from which they want to connect. @nikosT , personally I will use the same key and IP as for the test_CO that we are using in T3.2 for testing.

4) @sebastian-luna-valero in case the users need help with uploading their ssh key or understanding how to create/use these keys then let me know.

@sebastian-luna-valero I confirm that I was able to successfully access the SRAM system and join the HISEA CO. It was very easy, only took few minutes. Looking forward to explore the functionality.

backeb commented 2 years ago

@sebastian-luna-valero I am also able to successfully access the SRAM system!

@lorincmeszaros @backeb

The GRNET HPC service has been connected to the HiSea CO in SRAM today.

Could you please try the following:

I have written down these steps in: https://confluence.egi.eu/display/CSCALE/Use+case%3A+HiSea#Usecase:HiSea-Howtogetaccess

Best regards, Sebastian

PD: @sandragaytan and @avgils have not joined the HiSea CO SRAM yet, according to the SRAM portal.

@lorincmeszaros @backeb

The GRNET HPC service has been connected to the HiSea CO in SRAM today.

Could you please try the following:

* Upload your public SSH key to: https://sram.surf.nl/profile

* Email [hpc-info@lists.grnet.gr](mailto:hpc-info@lists.grnet.gr) with the IP address you will be connecting from. They will provide access instructions.

* Additional instructions can be found in https://doc.aris.grnet.gr/login/

Please use support@hpc.grnet.gr for providing the IP addresses, instead of hpc-info@lists.grnet.gr,

@avgils: here are the instructions mentioned in the call today

Naive question @venekamp @nikosT

Could you please confirm which SRAM CO is being use for the HiSea Use Case?

I seem to have lost access to aris and I would like to confirm whether this is related to the C-SCALE-test-co no longer being available.

Or a different way of asking the same thing, could you confirm whether we using the hisea.c-scale.eu SRAM CO to access aris?

nikosT commented 2 years ago

Hi @sebastian-luna-valero It is exactly what you said: C-SCALE-test-co is no longer available. The official collaboration is at hisea.c-scale.eu.

sebastian-luna-valero commented 2 years ago

Hi @nikosT

I am a member of the hisea.c-scale.eu SRAM CO as well but still cannot access aris.

Should I contact support<at>hpc.grnet.gr for support? or can you investigate?

Best regards, Sebastian

nikosT commented 2 years ago

Hi @sebastian-luna-valero If you already had access when you were in the C-SCALE-test-co, then the problem is not the different SRAM collaboration. I can see your username in ARIS, so I would question two things. Are you able to reach with your user account the login03.aris.grnet.gr? If yes, do you use the same ssh-key?

sebastian-luna-valero commented 2 years ago

Thanks for following up, @nikosT My bad. Mi ssh client kept changing IP addresses, and GRNET support just configured an IP subnet for my access to aris. The problem is now solved. Apologies for the noise!
