Arrange access to CloudFerro OpenStack #4

Closed backeb closed 2 years ago

backeb commented 3 years ago

Hi Stanislaw and @jkonarski for this use case we need access to CloudFerro's cloud compute service. The VO is currently being enabled in PERUN, see #1. Please advise what we, the users, should do on our side to get access to the CloudFerror OpenStack. Thanks Bjorn cc @sandragaytan @avgils

jkonarski commented 3 years ago

Hi Bjorn, In order to get access to our compute resources, CREODIAS you should register on creodias.eu (register button on top, or direct link: https://portal.creodias.eu/register.php) To have access to OpenStack via horizon dashboard (or API) you have to either contact me on what emial you registerd so I can apply credits to your account (which created your enviroment) or you can apply for the procedure for test credits (sholud have them after few questions questionaire and revision by our support memebers).

Please note that an emial address is unique for the account created and cannot be changed. You can however add many contact to the created account.

Best Jerzy

Thanks for the info @jkonarski @sandragaytan could you follow the procedure described? cc @lorincmeszaros @avgils

Hi!

was this access enabled? Are you already using CREODIAS for this use case?

Thanks

backeb commented 2 years ago

I'm not sure if we followed the process to access CREODIAS, my suspicion is "no".

Our focus has been on working on GRNET's resources.

lorincmeszaros commented 2 years ago

I can confirm this. So far we have only tested GRNET's resources. We planned to test CREODIAS resources once the workflow is consolidated and transferable.

Hi,

I think it is a good time to continue with this task now.

@MZICloudferro could you please confirm what are the steps for the HiSea Use Case to get access to https://new.cloudferro.com/ ?

Best regards, Sebastian

jkonarski commented 2 years ago

Hi Sebastian, Marcin in on holiday until 6th June. Do you have any particular deadline, or can it wait?

Best Jerzy

Hi Jerzy,

Let's then wait for Marcin to come back.

Thanks for letting us know! Sebastian

  2. Cilck „Create Account”

  3. Add „Organisation”

  4. Give me feedback that you have performed steps 1-3 and I will add credits to your account based on the information provided (name, login, organisation name)

Thanks, Marcin!

Have they been assigned to HiSea?

Could @lorincmeszaros and/or @backeb test access and confirm?

Best regards, Sebastian

MZICloudferro commented 2 years ago

@sebastian-luna-valero Definitly those numbers have not been assigned yet. Those are all we have for all C-Scale project. @lorincmeszaros How much resources would you like to have? Similar to those from GRNET?

sebastian-luna-valero commented 2 years ago

@lorincmeszaros @backeb

Could you please address Marcin's question above?

sebastian-luna-valero commented 2 years ago

@lorincmeszaros @backeb

Any feedback on this, please?

backeb commented 2 years ago

Hi @sebastian-luna-valero I currently cannot really answer that question. I guess similar resources to GRNET should be fine. Our focus for now is to generalise the workflow deployment so we can easily redeploy to CREODIAS.

Once we've done that we will start working on our scaling and performance experiments.

MZICloudferro commented 2 years ago

Ok. From our side, we can assign similar resources to GRNET. Please give me information and I will grant you access to CF environment and resources.

sebastian-luna-valero commented 2 years ago

Thanks @MZICloudferro

@backeb currently HiSea has been allocated 20 vCPUs and 1TB storage capacity at GRNET Cloud (see https://confluence.egi.eu/display/CSCALE/C-Scale+VA%3A+HiSea ). Since the goal of the redeployment at CF is to scale up, should we initially allocate 40 vCPUs and 2 TB storage capacity at CreoDIAS? This way HiSea can work in parallel: on the one hand in the generalisation of the workflow and the redeployment (e.g. using PaaS Orchestrator with https://github.com/argoproj/argo-workflows/).

MZICloudferro commented 2 years ago

We have some machines parameters described here: https://creodias.eu/price-list (under WAW3-1 Figure 6). I believe that we can choose something for the project.

@MZICloudferro

I have performed steps 1-3. We have the following account:

username: deltares Email: lorinc.meszaros@deltares.nl Organization name: Deltares

Could you please add credits to the account? Thanks!

lorincmeszaros commented 2 years ago

@MZICloudferro

I can see the credit in the Tenant Manager

@MZICloudferro @LukaszKubowicz

I have created an instace, created a key pair and associated a floating IP to the instace. I am trying to access the VM with ssh: ssh -i "path/to/hisea-key-pair-creodias.pem" centos@64.225.133.206

but I am getting a Connection timed out error ssh: connect to host 64.225.133.206 port 22: Connection timed out

For grnet it was a network issue https://github.com/c-scale-community/use-case-hisea/issues/8#issuecomment-897557928 . Could it be the same problem here? I used the network called 'cloud_00417_1'.

Connection established to the Creodias VM. Access using this command:

ssh -i "path/to/hisea-key-pair-creodias.pem" eouser@64.225.133.206
