Feature request: transfer compression #52

Using compression during the transfer may allow to do faster backups over slow 
networks.

lzop and gzip are pretty fast and could reduce transfer time even on a 100Mbps 
link.

Thanks for a reasonable feature request. I've been considering something along 
these lines. 

The main concern I have had is that lzop is not readily available across many 
platforms and gzip can potentially be a bottleneck depending on the compression 
level used.

I suppose I could make it configurable and leave the choice up to the user.

I'll look into this more once I feel like the core functionality is stable and 
ready.
