Evolution: User Access

The Cbioportal is a great tool for explore clinical and omics data. We want to open widely the use the "summary" view of datasets to explore anonymised data across the institute. So we would want to separate the permissions for the 3 following functionalities for users and groups:

• View summary
• View clinical data
• Download data

It would also enable us to give access to anonymised/agregated data to external partners without enabling them to see or download individual data.

We have exactly the same need in my institute and have solved this issue by running 3 different instances of cbioportal. One for internal usage, one for sharing with collaborators that requires credentials, and a last one that is completely public. I agree though that being able to handle permissions from a single instance would be a nice feature.

Same need here. As a starting point for us, would be great to know if there is the possibility to disable the "Download data" function.
