Windows Media Player Refuses to Play 4k Vid On Non-Primary Screen #184

W10 x64 1703. Screensaver and WMP 12 playback both work perfectly so long as it's taking place on the primary monitor. If I move the video to either (I have 2 other) screens, the video will freeze, turn black, and then playback dots, occasionally flickering the actual video.

Other video players work fine on all screens

I've tried different codecs, un/reinstalling WMP12, updating NVIDIA drivers, tweaking WMP 12 settings (Toggling hardware accel. for wmv seems to impact it slightly, as when it's checked, it will throw an error message 'wmp 12 can't play this because a problem with your video card' upon opening).

All signs point to WMP 12 as the culprit, as 4k video playback on other players works fine on all screens.

Any suggestions?

Found out that going to Codec Tweak Tool > Win7DSFilterTweaker > MS Codec Tweaks > Checking 'Disable HEVC Video Decoder MFT' for both non-x64 and x64 fixes the problem.
