Could you check out all the options hydra (login cracker) has? I think many of the options are already implemented on the login cracker. https://github.com/vanhauser-thc/thc-hydra (scroll down to the LOGINS AND PASSWORDS section).

Maybe a way of improve it would be to implement wordlists generator based on mask, like hashcat do.
