Selection lookup fails #190

I am a:

While text selection lookup in another app (e.g. google keep) worked on my Moto G6 I'm unable to make it work with my new Moto g power 2023 Android 13

Hi @enterudy,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm currently investigating it.

Trying on emulators on my side, so not exactly the same setup as yours. From the native messaging app, I notice:

I also notice the same behavior with the Wikipedia app as with Poet Assistant.

If you have a moment, could you check if you see the Wikipedia app appearing in the text selection menu, on your side?

If you happen to know of any open source apps that are appearing in the menu, please let me know. I'll take a look at them to see how they're managing it differently from Poet Assistant.

In any case, I'll continue to dig on my side.

Wow! Carmen What an impressive response time!!! Thank you! Upon text selection in Keep I only see "Read Aloud" and "Search DuckDuckGo" Could DuckDuck be doing something with all its blocking options? (I think I've exhausted trying variations) Regards, Rudy PS Your app is brilliant... and just yesterday I discovered the translating feature! Keeps getting better!

Thanks @enterudy, this tip about DuckDuckGo helped with the investigations 🙏🏻

I've submitted a "fix" (kind of a hacky workaround). We'll see if/when Google approves it and releases it :)

I also filed a bug with Google too: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/340098899

If you fetch apps from sources other than the Play Store, you can already try the fix from the releases page of this project (version 1.30.7).

Hey Carmen! Although I didn't really know what to do after clicking on the 'releases' link. I must have tapped something right, though I never did observe any kind of downloading..... BUT IT WORKED - BRILLIANT!!!!

My poems are short and simple, As num'rous ones I write. My birthday rhyme's expected By my grandchildren bright.

For my Po-et Assistant, An Android app by Carmen, She quickly fixed a problem I'd say she is most charmin'!

Some think that I'm quite clever Whenev'r I make a rhyme But I'll share: I've assistance Carmen helps every time!

Thanks so much for your amazing, quick response. And FYI, I'm a retired electrical engineer in my seventies in Canada.
