is there a way to increase the number of tuners

So to Settings > Providers > [Provider tab] It is not in the instance, but it is set for all instances for a provider. You will need to restart Cabernet which can be done in the Scheduled Tasks > Applications area.

Be aware that the DVR may also need to be adjusted to support the change in tuners.
