Unexpectedly kicked out while caching #5069

Open Ricnmad opened 1 month ago

Describe the bug While in live or offline lists (major navigate), I am kicked out to my Home Screen menu. When I go back into cachly, it opens the first cache I opened since starting a fresh copy of cachly. Hard to explain…to save battery, I flick all apps off, then start cachly, find a cache (call it A) or two or ten, and when I get kicked out and restart cachly it will open A, not my last working cache.
also you need to know my workflow. I save all found/dnf logs on cachly, then usually export the file, and use gsak to embellish the logs, and do final logging. On cachly, I will make a note in my log regarding replacing wet paper, who found a difficult one, etc. just to trigger my thoughts when I log on gsak.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Start cachly and find a couple caches. Make a brief log note.
  2. Then start a new cache, realize you need to amend a previous log note.
  3. Tap more, pending logs, edit the log and save. Important…do not back arrow out of the pending logs list. That’s the bug!
  4. Go find another cache. Navigate to it. It might take a minute or two, or a cache or two, but you will get thrown out of cachly.
  5. When you go back in, you’re on the wrong cache.

This week, I got kicked out right after I’d gone into pending logs to make an edit, after cachly worked flawlessly for an hour or two. As soon as I backed out of pending to the main “more” list, cachly behaved itself for the rest of the trip. Any time I made an edit to a pending log, I backed out to the menu.
cachly was rock solid the whole 3 days and 60 plus caches.

Expected behavior A don’t kick me out!

What map type are you using?

Ricnmad commented 4 weeks ago

Hmmm, when we’re driving I alternate between Apple and google standard maps. I don’t have a favorite, I just randomly pick one of them. I don’t drive with satellite view. I also have British Columbia pro map loaded on cachly. Honestly don’t remember this week when it happened. When I’m walking I use compass almost exclusively.

I have not been able to replicate, even when tested the steps you provided. Can you verify that you still don't have crash logs? Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data and look for a Cachly file that ends in .ips

Well my three day trip was a fluke. I was getting kicked out again a yesterday. Sigh. Attached pics of data analysis. If you tell me which one and how, I will send my log(s). What interesting is that there are no ips files after April this year which is about when things started going south.

I didn't see any pictures included. Could you resend? Also in Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements do you have the "Share with App Developers" option turned on? and also "Share iPhone and Watch Analytics"?

Ricnmad commented 3 weeks ago

Hey Nick. I just turned on share iphone analytics, and share with app dev.    This is all that’s on my phone.  It doesn’t look to me like there’s any errors in 2024 but what do I know about these records.     Going caching again tomorrow.   Will let you know how it goes.  MadeleneSent from my iPadOn Nov 7, 2024, at 12:05 PM, Nicholas Hubbard @.***> wrote: I didn't see any pictures included. Thanks, now that the option is turned on it should create crash logs.

Hi nick. We were caching today (iPhone 8) and cachly (or the phone) was misbehaving a lot. I saw some Jetsam logs (whatever they are). I used a mix of google and Apple Maps today. Madelene. Have an iPhone 14 at home that I just need a safety case for and it will be up and running.

Can you show a screenshot of the crash logs screen? What do you see for Cachly? Without crash logs I am at a loss.
