Need for an actual Manual. #1226

Hello, I am trying to use Ark Smart Breeding. Currently l am having difficulty understanding what some of the color coding means. Specifically, the Library page. Some of the names of my dinos are in green and others are white. What's the difference? And what do the colors in the other columns indicate?

I have watched several videos about using ASB, but none have actually explained how to use the app, rather the individuals explain how they use the app.

I'm not a programmer but have downloaded the code. And am hoping that I will stumble across something that will explain the color coding used.

Hi, an overview can be found here https://github.com/cadon/ARKStatsExtractor/wiki/Manual, the answer to your question is on this page: https://github.com/cadon/ARKStatsExtractor/wiki/Library. In short: a green background of the creatures` name indicate a top stat, a white background indicate they don't have a top stat (i.e. you don't need them for breeding). The colors in the stat columns are just a gradient from red to green, depending on the level (the higher, the greener).

Thank you fort answering my question. I'm used to a searchable online manual or downloadable searchable pdf. I'll poke around Github Wiki and see if there is a better way to find answers than reading every page.

Again, Thanks.

Github offers a search function at the very top of the page. By default it will display results of the whole repository, e.g. wiki pages, but also code, commits and issues. After entering your search request you can filter the results to the wiki only. It may be some clicks more than you're used to compared to a dedicated manual, but it's a search at least.

Although the above resources were very helpful when the app was new to me, some recent updates have changed things like colors on stats for instance - the change from shades of green to blue and purple do not make sense to me on the breeding screen, and I could not find any information on what the colors mean in the manuals linked above. It took me months to realize that a gold background meant a creature has the top stats for the library, as somehow it was not intuitive to me at the time - I am finding the same with the purple and blue combination now, but have not had enough time to play with it and see what I can figure out again after months of confident use.

The blue and purple shadings of stats are enabled if you enable in Settings - General - Breeding Planner - Highlight even / odd levels. That can be useful if you try to maximise levels by mutations. A mutation always increases a stat by 2 levels, and having 255 levels in a stat prevents leveling it more, so usually you want a stat that you still want to level at 254 (i.e. the level has to be even if you increase the stat only by mutations), and stats you don't want to level can be up to 255 (i.e. odd). That plays a role for lategame breeding. I'll add the explanation to the manual.

I just discovered this program. I was hoping for an easy mode that somehow read all my dinos from the game :) But once I figured out the upload dino command, it wasn't bad other than I suddenly realized just how many dinos I have! So far I have the 51 that I had out and breeding/pooping. I'll stash them for a bit and grab another 50 or so and gradually cycle through all of them to see what I really have. At one point I had a page open that showed one dino and specifically pointed out the 2 green stats and told me to keep this one for breeding. Now I can't find that page! I learned a lot just working my way through the program so thank you very much :)

The Library highlights the creature's name green if it has top stats, also the top stats have a stronger color in the library. Maybe you also saw the top stats in the Breeding Plan.
