[BUG] NordicTrack Treadmill model T9.5s #1698

Describe the bug I have NordicTrack Treadmill model T9.5s and it is not communicating correctly. I was asked to try a setting and it is not talking to QY

Desktop (please complete the following information):

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

Append a debug log

no error, i typed it again just to make sure and it was good

so, now i go into companion on the treadmill and select gran tour pro, reboot the treadmill or just companion?

Then upgrade ifit and see if it sticks or is there something inbetween?

both is better

Then upgrade ifit and see if it sticks or is there something inbetween?

you should do these steps after the ifit update. but you can try first on this scenario

okay, ifit upgraded, rebooted treadmill, it still has grand tour bike on companion.

it is working for speed is slightly out and it reads the belt speed as it increases and decreases. doesn't just report 6km as soon as i hit the 6 button

incline is not working though? is it because it is a bike profile

wow good news! for the 6km and inclination issue send me a debug log from qz on the phone. i will check it tomorrow!

Okay, I started, adjusted the speed up and down and then tried gradient changes 0 to 2, 2-4, 4-2, 2-0 and none registered. Hope it helps

It has also held after a reboot of the treadmill

Okay, I started, adjusted the speed up and down and then tried gradient changes 0 to 2, 2-4, 4-2, 2-0 and none registered. Hope it helps

in this log @CerysT should i see also the problem with the speed? I don't see any hole in the speed reading, am I missing something?

Instead for the inclination, I don't see any grade changing. maybe it's logging it in a different way. could you please do another small workout with inclination changing and while you're still in the workout dumping an adb logcat with this https://github.com/cagnulein/QZCompanionNordictrackTreadmill/blob/master/InstallPackage/adb-debug.bat ?

Morning

The speed changed but in a different manner to when I was using it before.

Before when I selected a speed the app on my phone changed to that in one big step. Now it is gradually changing as does the belt speed. It is a curve from each speed change instead of a step change.

I will get a workout done with this log. I assume I need to copy this into my install package folder before running?

Hi @CerysT. I can try to help. Were you able to get an ADB connection working between your treadmill and Windows PC? To test, you can run the "adb-debug.bat" script which is included in the QZ Companion install package at https://github.com/cagnulein/QZCompanionNordictrackTreadmill/tree/master/InstallPackage. The script will ask for the treaadmills IP address and make an ADB connection to your PC. If successful, it will collect several log files which you can upload here in this ticket.

@CerysT so this one is not working now? I thought you said that worked yesterday, am I wrong?

maybe we need to use the USB to gain access to adb now? I'm just wondering, unfortunately only you can see how to enable it (I don't have a nordictrack device).

Otherwise you will have to use the old ifit version.

Another way is to continue the USB implementation #1577 but I'm stuck because I would need an usb sniffer on a treadmill directly

For me personally as a Zwift user, the incline metrics aren't a problem for me. The speed transmitting is the big one for me and with that now working whilst still allowing the latest iFit is great!

However if I can be of any help, please let me know.

@CerysT, I'm not sure if this will work on your treadmill but it's a way to disable automatic updates to iFit after a reset. It's worth trying to see if it works for you.

After enabling privileged mode, go to android desktop and run iFit Admin app (not the main iFit app). In the iFit Admin app tap 5 times in upper right of screen to get to a 'Secret Menu'. Note, the precise 5 tap area is small, when you tap your console if you are tapping in the correct spot your console should generate an audible tap sound. Seek the top right corner of the iFit Admin status display box (close to the right edge of the console, down about 1.5" from the top of the console screen). On Secret Menu tap 1st option so it reads 'Auto Update Disabled' or 'Auto-Upgrade Disabled' Back out of the iFit Admin app to the android desktop and run the iFit app Your machine will not update without asking you first Enable Internet on the console
